Abstract

Kalimantan Tengah's economy based on the size of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices in the first quarter of 2023 reached IDR 51.3 trillion, at constant 2010 prices it reached IDR 27.2 trillion.
  • Kalimantan Tengah's economy in quarter I-2023 compared to quarter I-2022 (y-on-y) grew by 3.22 percent. From the production side, the highest growth occurred in the Electricity and Gas Procurement Business Field of 13.11 percent. Meanwhile, from the expense side, the component that grew the highest was the Export of Goods and Services Component of 6.94 percent.
  • Kalimantan Tengah's economy in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the fourth quarter of 2022 experienced a contraction of 4.90 percent (q-to-q). From the production side, there are still eleven business fields that are growing positively. The business field with the highest growth was achieved by the Manufacturing Industry category which grew by 9.61 percent, followed by the Corporate Services and other Services business fields which grew by 9.18 percent and 5.42 percent respectively. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the Non-Profit Institution Serving Households (PK-LNPRT) Consumption Expenditure Component experienced the highest growth of 0.45 percent. This figure was followed by the Household Consumption Expenditure Component (PK-RT), which grew by 0.26 percent.
  • Spatially, the economic structure of Kalimantan in the first quarter of 2023 is still dominated by East Kalimantan Province, with 51.22 percent. Kalimantan Tengah Province is in fourth place with a contribution of 11.43 percent. On a y-on-y basis all provinces in the Kalimantan region experienced positive growth, while on a q-to-q basis all experienced contraction.
