February 2022: Palangka Raya experiences 0.01% deflation and Sampit experiences 0.03% deflation

Abstract

  • In February 2022, based on two reference cities, Palangka Raya and Sampit, there was a deflation in Kalimantan Tengah of 0.01 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 109.42. Of the 90 CPI cities, 37 cities experienced inflation and 53 cities experiencing deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kupang at 0.65 percent with a CPI of 107.17 and the lowest was in Tanjung Selor at 0.01 percent with a CPI of 106.29. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan of 2.08 percent with a CPI of 109.20 and the lowest was in Palembang of 0.01 percent with a CPI of 107.54.
  • The combined deflation of the cities of Palangka Raya and Sampit in February 2022 was due to an increase in the index of the transportation group (1.50 percent) and the food, beverage and tobacco group (0.41 percent).
  • The inflation rate for the calendar year (January 2022 to December 2021) was recorded at 0.61 and the year-on-year inflation (January 2022 to January 2021) for the combined cities of Palangka Raya and Sampit was 3.86 percent.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation in February 2022 include broiler chicken, oily pastries, household fuel, filter kretek cigarettes, rice, shallots, high school, rice with side dishes, cilok/cireng/bastus/basreng, and meat.
  • Commodities contributing to deflation in February 2022 include air transportation, cayenne pepper, broiler eggs, cooking oil, snakehead fish, baung fish, tilapia, lais fish, long beans and catfish.
